About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Psychiatry Consultant to join a leading healthcare provider in Australia. The successful candidate will provide high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients across inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. The role involves multidisciplinary collaboration, supervision of junior medical staff, and contribution to service development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert psychiatric care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of patients with mental health conditions.
- Deliver services across mental health units (Older Persons, Forensic, Adult Rehab, General Adult).
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and allied health staff.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, registrars, and medical students.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records in accordance with Australian healthcare standards.
- Participate in on-call roster as required.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research activities.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, risk management, and safety protocols.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with patients, families, and community agencies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- MRCPsych , FRANZCP , RCPsych , CCT , CCST, CESR, CSCST
- Minimum 3–5 years post-qualification experience in Psychiatry.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Older Persons, Forensic, Adult Rehab, General Adult
- Competency in crisis intervention and acute management.
- Research interest or teaching experience is an advantage.
