Hospital of Southern Jutland is seeking a specialist in clinical oncology to join the Oncology Outpatient Clinic in Sønderborg!
The Oncology Outpatient Clinic is part of the Department of Medical Diseases and provides treatment and follow-up for patients from the municipalities of Sønderborg, Aabenraa, Tønder and Haderslev. The clinic treats patients with breast cancer, lung cancer and colorectal cancer and also provides follow-up care for patients with malignant melanoma and low-risk breast cancer. In addition, the department includes a Late Effects after Cancer Clinic for patients experiencing long-term complications following cancer or cancer treatment. The role includes assessment, treatment and follow-up of patients, with a strong focus on continuity of care and shared decision-making. Each doctor has the opportunity to follow their own patients while working closely with experienced colleagues. Treatment options include chemotherapy, antihormonal treatment and biological therapies. If inpatient care is required, patients are admitted to the department’s 14-bed oncology and internal medicine ward. The department works closely with other specialties involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment and participates in seven multidisciplinary team conferences and three radiology conferences every week. Clinical research is an important part of the department’s work.
Requirements
To be a recognised specialist in clinical oncology.
To have strong clinical experience in the assessment, treatment and followup of cancer patients.
To be able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across specialties.
To be committed, flexible and focused on providing high-quality patient care.
To have strong communication skills and an interest in professional development.
Five years of experience as a staff specialist is required for appointment at senior consultant level.
Conditions
The position is full-time, 37 hours per week, without on-call duties. Flexible working hours and some home-working days may be possible, depending on the daily operation of the clinic. The department offers a structured introduction programme, mentoring, continuing education, opportunities to attend conferences and the possibility of participating in clinical and epidemiological research. Salary and employment conditions are regulated by the collective agreement between Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists.
