Key tasks of the Post:-
• To work constructively with colleagues in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine to provide the best care for patients
• To provide pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up for patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery.
• To develop existing relationships between anaesthesia and Clinical Service/Support Units within the Trust.
• To provide out of hours on call cover for theatres and obstetrics
• Teaching and training of intermediate grade and trainee medical staff, nursing staff and medical students.
• To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
• To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD).
The Anaesthetic Department provides comprehensive services normally expected of a district hospital. These include colorectal, urology, general surgery, breast surgery, trauma and orthopaedic, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT and oro-maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology and plastic surgery.
Additional special interest skills that will complement the current roles already provided in the department will be advantageous. Subspecialty interests for theatre sessions may be accommodated in various specialties.
