On behalf of a leading private hospital in Dubai, we are seeking a Consultant gastroenterologist for a position with an immediate start, on a contract of at least 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

The hospital is part of an international hospital group with high clinical standards and modern facilities. The patient population consists largely of international, European and VIP patients who expect high-quality care, good communication and personalised attention.

The position offers an annual salary of approximately €225,000–245,000, with the possibility of tax-free income.

About the position

As a Consultant Gastroenterologist, you will work in a modern, highly specialised unit focusing on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterological conditions.

The position involves a broad clinical practice with a particular focus on endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

The hospital is looking for a clinically strong gastroenterologist who thrives in an international environment and puts the patient at the centre of care.

You will work closely with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, radiology, oncology and other relevant medical fields.

Typical responsibilities

• Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterological conditions
• Follow-up of both acute and chronic patients
• Gastroscopies and colonoscopies
• Assessment and treatment of diseases affecting the gastrointestinal system
• Outpatient care and patient consultations
• Multidisciplinary collaboration with other specialist
• Supervision and teaching of other healthcare professionals
• Contributing to quality improvement and professional development

We are looking for someone who

• Is a specialist in gastroenterology
• Has a minimum of three years of experience at consultant level after completing specialist training
• Has experience with endoscopic examinations and colonoscopies
• Has strong clinical and diagnostic skills within general gastroenterology
• Has excellent English language skills
• Communicates well with patients and colleagues
• Thrives in an international working environment
• Has personal qualities that contribute to good collaboration and high patient satisfaction

Working hours

45 hours per week over 5 working days
The working week includes one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)
Preferred candidate background

We are particularly interested in candidates who completed their specialist training and currently hold specialist recognition in one of the following countries: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom (with CCT), Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, or South Korea.

These qualifications are highly regarded within the UAE licensing framework and typically allow for a streamlined licensing process.

Salary and benefits

The fixed salary is approximately AED 80,000–85,000 per month, equivalent to approximately €18,700–€19,900 per month, or around €224,000–€239,000 per year, with the potential for tax-free income.

It is not necessary to hold a DHA licence at the time of application, but candidates must meet the requirements for licensing as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in the United Arab Emirates. The hospital’s dedicated licensing team will manage and cover the costs of the entire process.
