Job Description

We are excited to be adding to our clients team and are currently seeking to recruiting a Consultant to support with our Cataract and General Ophthalmology.  

This role is that of a General Ophthalmologist, with a special interest in cataract surgery. This is to allow expansion of a dynamic team of 6 existing consultant colleagues and to support a growing workload.

The post would also suit candidates with sub-specialty experience in an area complementing the existing department. This post is aimed at individuals who are also able to undertake a wide range of general ophthalmic duties, and who are able to fit into a team delivering a broad range of both general and sub-specialist ophthalmic care. A high level of competence in cataract surgery is essential.

The Consultant is in overall charge of patients and will allocate duties and responsibilities depending on the experience of his or her team.

The appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist will work in both general and specialist clinics and see new and follow up patients. 

The appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist will be expected to have a special interest that will complement the existing team and will integrate into the present structure.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria

• Full doctors GMC Registration. On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attainment of CCT in Ophthalmology or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) Licence to practise have passed FRCOphth exam or equivalent.

Desirable criteria
• Higher qualification MD/PhD [or in final stages of equivalent level of attainment in research publications].

Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Training in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and specific subspecialty training

Desirable criteria
- A post-CCT Fellowship in sub-speciality
