About the Organization
The Psychiatric Clinic in Värnamo is one of three adult psychiatric clinics in the Jönköping County Region, working towards “equitable psychiatry” with a focus on high-quality, accessible, and safe patient care.The clinic has approximately 120 full-time employees, including psychiatrists, resident doctors, psychologists, nurses, caregivers, social workers, rehabilitation coordinators, and administrators. It consists of four outpatient facilities and one inpatient ward.

You will be part of a well-structured medical team with both specialists and resident doctors, working in close collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The clinic offers an environment with short decision-making pathways and strong opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Värnamo Hospital, where the clinic is located, has 230 beds and serves a catchment area of around 85,000 residents. It is part of a regional healthcare system ranked among the top in Sweden for several years.

 About the Role

• Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8–17 (flexible schedule)
• Combination of outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care
• Daily tasks include scheduled consultations, evaluations, treatments, and urgent assessments
• Multidisciplinary teamwork with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and administrators
• After introduction: participation in on-call duties (standby at home)
• Supportive environment with modern facilities, including renovated wards, dialysis unit, ambulance intake, and surgery/intensive care units

 
Main Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments, treatments, and follow-ups for adult patients
• Work clinically in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans and ensure high-quality care
• Contribute to clinical development and patient safety initiatives
• Mentor and collaborate with resident doctors

 
Requirements

• Specialist certification in Psychiatry recognized in the EU
• Experience in outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care
• Previous on-call experience is desirable
• Personal qualities: calm, structured, clear communicator, flexible, strong team player, and committed to patient contact
• Commitment to complete MediCarrera’s intensive Swedish language program
   

Salary and Conditions (2025)

• Physician Assistant (introductory phase, 6 months): SEK 56,500/month (while learning advanced medical Swedish and shadowing colleagues)
• Specialist in Psychiatry (permanent): salary according to Swedish collective agreement (set individually after licensure and full introduction)
• On-call duty: standby from home after the introduction period
• During the 6-month introduction, you will work part-time while attending advanced Swedish language courses (two days/week). Once Swedish medical licensure and specialist recognition are completed, employment transitions to a permanent contract as a specialist doctor.
