Job Description

Bologna Health Jobs Ireland, a company with over 15 years of experience in Ireland, is actively seeking a consultant  physician in microbiology for one of the leading hospitals in southern Ireland.

 

Consultant Responsibilities:

 

• The consultant will be part of the team of consultants and will be one of the key members of the department. Therefore, they will hold a leadership position and operate with complete autonomy. Reporting to them will be residents and registered physicians, and they will be responsible for overseeing all decisions made by their team and will report to the hospital's clinical director.

 

General Functions:

 

The consultant will focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and control of infections caused by microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites). Their responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing infectious diseases through the analysis of samples (blood, urine, sputum, tissues, etc.).

 

• Supervising clinical microbiology laboratories.

 

• Advising physicians and clinical teams on appropriate antibiotic or antiviral treatment (antibiotic stewardship). • Control of hospital infections, including outbreaks of resistant bacteria such as MRSA.

 

• Development of hygiene and prevention policies in hospitals.

 

• Training of medical and laboratory personnel…

 

Requirements:

5 to 10 years of experience in hospital microbiology departments.

A microbiology specialization in the EU is required to apply for a consultant position.

B2-C1 level of English.

Strong motivation to relocate to Ireland after obtaining the IMC (International Baccalaureate).

 

If you are from outside the EU and your specialization is recognized in Spain, you must have three years of experience in Spain since the recognition of your specialization to apply to Ireland. Similarly, for a bachelor's degree, three years of experience are required after the recognition of your specialization.

 

What we offer:

 

One-year contracts with the possibility of extension and then permanent contracts.

 

For consulting physicians, up to €12,000 (between €233.50 and €280.50 as a gross annual base salary) per month, depending on experience (up to €320,000 gross annually with on-call shifts).
