About the Organization
The NHV unit in Sundsvall is one of five centers in Sweden providing nationally designated, highly specialized care for severe eating disorders. The service is part of the Department of Psychiatry and Rehabilitation within Region Västernorrland and has an academic affiliation with Umeå University and Mid Sweden University.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, internal medicine specialists, nurses, psychologists, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers. About the Role
- Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8–17 (flexible schedule)
- Combination of inpatient and outpatient care
- Daily tasks include medical and psychiatric assessments, treatment of patients with severe eating disorders, and follow-ups
- Participate in treatment conferences, care planning, and evaluation of treatment goals
- Manage acute medical situations and somatic monitoring in collaboration with other staff
- Work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to research and clinical development
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments, treatments, and follow-ups for patients with severe eating disorders
- Provide nutritional rehabilitation and somatic monitoring for patients with severe starvation
- Treat comorbidities such as self-harming behavior, neuropsychiatric disorders, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety
- Apply evidence-based psychotherapeutic methods (e.g., CBT, DBT, family therapy)
- Work according to national guidelines for severe eating disorders
- Mentor and collaborate with junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
- Contribute to research and knowledge development
Requirements
- Specialist certification in Psychiatry recognized in the EU
- Experience in treating severe eating disorders, including medical and psychotherapeutic care
- Experience with nutritional rehabilitation and somatic monitoring is highly desirable
- Knowledge of and experience with comorbidities and multidisciplinary teamwork
- Experience or strong interest in research and academic development
- Strong communication skills, structured, and team-oriented
- Commitment to complete MediCarrera’s intensive Swedish language program
Salary and Conditions (2025)
- Specialist in Psychiatry (permanent): SEK 80,000–110,000/month (approx. €7,000–9,600 gross), adjusted according to experience
- Additional on-call shifts compensated separately
