Job Description

Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, is looking for a senior consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with a high level of expertise in hepatology.

You will join one of the largest Gastroenterology and Hepatology departments in the Nordic region, providing both emergency and planned specialist care. The department works closely with gastrointestinal surgery and transplantation surgery and includes dedicated teams in hepatology, gastroenterology, endoscopy, intestinal failure and inpatient care.

Your work will include the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring specialized hepatology care in outpatient, inpatient and liver transplantation units. You will also supervise less experienced doctors and medical students and contribute to clinical development, quality improvement and research.

Requirements

  • Board-certified specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • High level of expertise and strong interest in hepatology and liver disease
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
  • Interest in clinical development, quality improvement and research
  • Research experience and/or a PhD is considered an advantage
  • Willingness to complete the Swedish language training included in the MediCarrera programme

Salary and conditions

  • Salary is set individually according to specialist experience and qualifications
  • Average specialist doctor salary in Sweden: approximately 80,000–110,000 SEK/month gross
  • On-call duties are paid separately
